Usually auctions start slowly, with teams taking their time to look around before pulling out the big guns. Not tonight though. Just the second name out of the bag on the night of the SA20 2025 Auction was enough to create a flutter around the room. 

Reeza Hendricks is coming in on the back of a stellar year with the South African T20I side, where he’s established himself as the first choice opening batter. Unsurprisingly, he drew interest, and what followed was a bidding war. 

And we weren’t stopping until we got him. 

MI Cape Town raised the first bid, at 175k Rand. The Pretoria Capitals upped it, MICT upped it further, and it refused to stop. He soon became a millionaire, a double-millionaire in half the them, a three-time-millionaire in lesser than a minute. And he wasn’t done yet. 

Amid discussions and strategies, the paddle kept going up. Four million Rand was touched. 4.20 million shortly after. We took it up to 4.3 million. And that was it. The Capitals were done. They’d run out of their purse and were forced to pull out. And Reeza got himself into the #OneFamily.
