DSGvMICT report: Match abandoned, points shared, and we move to the top of the table

By MI Cape Town Media

A damp end to what could have been a fascinating game. It really was shaping up to be one if the eleven overs of play we had were anything to go by. But the rain came down, refused to relent, and what that now means is that MI Cape Town, thanks to the two points attained owing to the sharing of points, have jumped to the top of the table, tied on points with the Paarl Royals, but trumping them on net run-rate.

Having been put in to bat first, Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen got us off to a quick start, with RR being the aggressor, smashing four boundaries in his nine-ball stay for 18. Rassie took his time to get in, but then made up and was looking to go big, staying unbeaten when the rain came down, at 35 off 32. Skipper Rashid Khan promoted himself up the order as a pinch-hitter, but just when it was looking fun, the heavens opened up.

Don’t worry, the reverse match in this rivalry is up next, with the Super Giants travelling down to our den, the Newlands on a Super Saturday evening.
