Rampant Rassie, sensational Rickelton set up thumping win over JSK

By MI Cape Town Media

The complete game. A stunning opening stand, a finish with a flurry, an opening burst with the ball, four wickets in the powerplay, and keeping the foot on the gas throughout. We really couldn’t have asked for a better game to kickstart our winning streak. Here’s how the day went ..

Rassie: 104, Rickelton: 98; MI CT 200/0

It’s not everyday that both openers smash it around at a strike-rate of over 200. Well, it happened today. And it’s not everyday that both of them smash centuries of their own. Well, it nearly happened today. While van der Dussen was the aggressor in the opening stand, with a 50-ball 104 consisting of nine fours and six sixes, Rickelton was happy to play second fiddle, only to up the ante once Rassie fell, and finish with a strike-rate of 200 himself in his 98-run stay.

JSK’s powerplay slippage

3-1 (Reeza Hendricks 1.1)

14-2 (Ronan Hermann, 2.6)

29-3 (Faf du Plessis, 4.1)

47-4 (Moeen Ali, 5.6)

Some running confusion caused the first blow. Kagiso Rabada, George Linde and Beuran Hendricks then struck in quick succession to make sure the chase never got any momentum. And in the end, it was just a matter of time before we wrapped it up.

A 98-run NRR boost

Okay, what this now means is that MI Cape Town have a bonus point, and have gotten a massive kick-up in the net run-rate, something that could be gold come the business end of the tournament. What this also means is that our team now carries immense confidence going into our first home game. Let’s keep it going!
