MICTvSEC Preview: It's time to avenge the heartbreaking loss
After playing an away game, MI Cape Town are set to play in their backyard at Newlands and host Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the reverse fixture on Wednesday (January 18).
The Rashid Khan-led side suffered a close defeat in their game last night against Aiden Markram and his team but the players weren't disheartened as there were a lot of positives for them in the first away game. MICT players are aiming to bounce back at home.
The captain, as well as the team management, stated that the MICT squad has a good mix of players and it doesn't get demotivated by defeats as all these players know how to make a comeback.
Reflecting over his team's upcoming game against the same opposition within 48 hours, MICT's bowling coach Jacob Oram claimed they have a strong side which doesn't take things for granted.
The former New Zealand cricketer reiterated MI’s philosophy and ethos that coaching staff who have been associated with the franchise knows what it takes to be the best team in the league and understands wins and losses are part of the game.
"We have a good squad, we are not taking things for granted and make sure we play well. In 48 hours, we are going to face the same opposition and look to do well by learning from the mistakes (we did)," Oram told at a press conference.
While speaking about the kind of communication the coaching staff is going to have with the players ahead of Wednesday's reverse fixture, the former New Zealand all-rounder claimed the conditions at Newlands will be different to what it was at St George's Park.
"It's going to be different conditions in Newlands but at the same time we need to, you know, look at good old high-performance word learnings, what they did, what we need to get those out of the opposition (in our favour). We need to assess where they did well tonight or failed. We need to focus on ourselves and appreciate where we can do better the next time against these guys. In a quick draw like this, we get a chance against these guys again. So, the memories (of errors) will be fresh and we need to make sure we focus on that," Oram added further.
