“Just the small areas where we need to do better”: Ryan Rickelton

Another pretty tough loss to swallow, but one among the many positives we can take out of it, is our opener, Ryan Rickelton. He’s been in fine form, as was evidenced in his 36-ball 46, with four fours and a huge six. Here are some excerpts from his exclusive quick chat with MI Cape Town at the end of the game.

On the areas where we need to tighten up

Credit to Marco Jansen. But it was a game where we didn’t do ourselves justice. Just small aspects of the game. We had opportunities to go from 170 to 190, so just small areas where we need to do better. Also closing out the game, an opportunity was there.

On his solid personal form

Obviously would love a few more to be honest. Trying to find the way I want to play. Nice to put in a good partnership today to carry the team to a good decent score.

Thoughts on the importance of the final game at Newlands

Vital now going forward, Saturday first, where we need to pick up four points. The final game at Newlands, which hopefully will be a humdinger. We need to maximize our home conditions. It is getting tense at the top of the table, so we need to make sure we’re up there. We have to maximize against the Capitals on that day.
