“It’s not about how you start, but how you finish”: Liam Livingstone

By MI Cape Town Media

Not the result we wanted, but surely the fight we did. Liam Livingstone was at the post-match press conference, and in the short, sweet three questions he was asked, spoke about how rain ruined a perfectly good finish. Excerpts ..

On Klaasen’s innings

At halfway we thought it was about par. It was a good wicket, a small ground, and we know we had to bowl well. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of a very good innings today. We did a lot of things well. We can take a lot of confidence from that. Klaasen just played an unbelievable innings today.

On MICT’s batting performance

I thought we played really well and set it up beautifully. We probably had a few too many dot balls at the end of the innings. But I think the middle-order power we have in the team will serve us really well in the tournament. But you always want more. You look back and think what we could have done better. But the rain I think ruined what could have been a really good finish. It is a good start to the tournament, there is a long way to go. It’s not about how you start, but how you finish.

If the result could have been different had the match gone all the way

I thought we were right in the game. I thought it was going to be a really good finish. It’s a shame that the rain ruined it. It’s harsh to say that the bowlers were off the mark. We did things really well. Probably on the wrong end of a really good innings. A fair amount of our game was really good.
